Bird Walk at Dunedin’s Edgewater Linear Park

Two hours north of Fort Myers lies Dunedin, Florida. It’s a quaint little town and the spring training home of the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s adjacent to Clearwater, one of the best beach towns in America, and the spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

I spent some time in Dunedin last weekend and found Edgwater Linear Park to be a worthy excursion for birders. Ospreys flew low and fast over the Intracoastal Waterway and Clearwater Harbor. Brown pelicans and cormorants perched on the remnants of a fishing pier  across from Caledisi Island State Park.

Wading birds such as herons, egrets, and ibises splashed in the water looking for a bite.

Edgewater Linear Park fronts Edgewater Drive in Dunedin, two blocks from the Blue Jays stadium. Parking is available at Edgewater Park, near the marina at 51 Main St.
